Turk Tuborg
Automatic Pallet Labeling and Traceability
At Turk Tuborg's Izmir plant, pallet labeling was automated and pallet-level traceability was established.

Automated pallet-level labeling and traceability
Turk Tuborg's Izmir factory produces alcoholic beverages. In this project, labeling of outgoing pallets was automated and pallet-level traceability was enabled.
The goal was to move labeling away from operator dependency into an automated, verifiable, and work-order-compliant process.
Manual labeling created error and shipment risks
Pallet labels were printed manually under operator control. This increased dependency on operators and introduced risks of incorrect labels and shipment errors.
- 01Operator DependencyManual execution made the process less standardized and harder to control.
- 02Incorrect Label RiskWrong labels could cause product-to-pallet information mismatch.
- 03Shipment Accuracy RiskLabels not aligned with work orders could negatively affect dispatch accuracy.
SAP work-order-driven automated labeling with verification
A pallet applicator was deployed for automatic labeling on three pallet sides. Label content is selected by SAP work order and verified after printing.
Work Order Selection
The pallet label to be printed is determined by the work order received from SAP.
3-Side Automatic Print
The pallet applicator applies labels automatically on three sides of each pallet.
Post-Print Verification
After printing, the label is scanned and validated for correctness.
Fallback for Continuity
If applicator failure occurs, manual labeling can be activated to avoid downtime.
Pallet applicator, PLC, C# SCADA, and SAP integration
Pallet Applicator
Shop-floor equipment that prints and applies labels automatically on three pallet sides.
PLC System
Manages field flow, equipment states, and labeling sequence control.
C# SCADA
Controls work-order selection, print execution, verification, and SAP data exchange.
SAP
Provides work-order-based label data and receives central process outcomes.
Centralized SAP work-order-based label governance
The system is integrated with SAP. The pallet label is selected according to SAP work order, and print/verification outcomes are shared back for centralized process control.
Label content and print flow are automatically driven by SAP work orders.
Post-print scan and validation results are sent to SAP, strengthening traceability.
Right label, accurate shipment, continuous operation
Reduced Operator Dependency
Automated pallet labeling removed operational dependency on manual operator initiative.
Higher Shipment Accuracy
Work-order-based automatic printing and verification reduced wrong-label and shipment errors.
Operational Continuity
Manual labeling fallback keeps the process running even during applicator failures.
